Welcome to Sixth Grade Math with Mrs. Moore!!

My name is Christy Moore.  I was born and raised in Florida.  As a Florida State University Alumni, I earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education.  I was an elementary school teacher for more than 20 years.  This will be my third year as a Middle School teacher.   I have been married for twenty one years and have one son, Gregory.  He attends Ida Baker High School in Cape Coral.  I am excited to be able to have the chance to tap into the potential your child has in becoming a leader.

 A Day in the Classroom:

When students come in the door they will start on bellwork as I  go around and check for homework assignments.  Once I check the homework, we will then go through and review homework/questions .  After checking homework we then move into the lesson for the day.   Following instruction, the students will then practice both with others and independently so that they are seeing examples in class that they will see in the homework.  Sometimes we may do a class activity to reinforce the new concepts.  Students will be assigned homework every night relating to the lesson that day.

With the implementation of the Chromebook students will have online access to the textbook and can use more resources at home and in the classroom.

Parents:

I want to take this opportunity to let you know that I am here if you ever need to contact me for any reason.  I enjoy being able to work with the parents to reinforce the math at home.   Please be checking the website for assignments and information.  Also, make sure that you are checking the agendas daily.   I have them copy down the assignments for the day here.  If they ever miss a homework assignment, I do make a note of it in the agenda.  During class, a lesson might take longer than expected and I might need to alter the homework.  Please rely on the agenda for more accurate homework assignments.  In addition, the agendas have graphs that we will ask you to initial to make sure that students are constantly aware of their grades and progress.  You should also be checking Focus.   If you have any further questions about your son or daughter please don’t hesitate to contact me.
