Welcome to my web page! I hope you find this page useful and will visit often.
My name is Paula Kliesch Splane. I grew up in the New Zion community of St. Helena Parish and attended New Zion Elementary and Greensburg High. I received my college degree from LSU and I LOVE my fightin' Tigers!
It seems like yesterday that I was beginning my very first year as the teacher, and not the student. However I blinked, and here I am 31 years later! I can honestly say that I am just as excited about starting the new school year now, as I was then. The only difference is I feel better prepared!
My goal is to do the best job possible teaching and expanding the horizons of my students. I want each child to feel loved and safe while in my care and to be kind, considerate, and empathetic to others. I want your child to grow up to be a lifelong learner like myself. My philosophy is based on the old saying: I can give a child a fish and feed him for a day; I can TEACH a child to fish and feed him for a lifetime. I would like to encourage you as a parent to have your child READ for at least 5 minutes per day. It doesn't have to be a book. It can be a magazine, a How-To guide, or even a cereal box! The main purpose to have them engaged in reading daily!
I have posted some useful links here on my page that you might find helpful in monitoring your child and his/her schoolwork, as well as updated announcements on our school's website. There are also links that your child can use to access additional practice resources.
