Ms. Tantillo's Class
6th grade World History!
We are half way through our 3rd 6weeks!!!
We are now in Unit 2 "Early Civilization", are strongly emphasizing the Fertile Crescent and Mesopotamia. We will be studing Hammurabi's Code in the weeks preceding the Thanksgiving break.
Everyday we are still working on map skills.
Before we know it, the PARCC and iLEAP will be on us and we have to be ready!!
By now, the students should know my routines and procedures, and have a feel for the way I make my test. Although the student are aware; Parents, our textbook is a secondary resource to the information leaned in class. Although it will be useful to have a textbook at home, the majority of our information comes from our journals and our class discussions. Students must pay attention in class and participate in discussions!
This 6 weeks we are continueing practicing outlining each leson for main ideas for the students to take notes from class discussions. We will be moving quickly through information. If students do not use class time wisely, pay attention, study, and do their homework, they will fall behind.
I still have students that do NOT have their material for my class. They MUST have a composition book, a red pocket folder with prongs, and if they want, a single subject red notebook. I DO NOT want binders.
Throughout the 6 weeks we will have projects and research papers along with map skills.
Please make sure you study your vocabulary every night and do all of your homework; but as always, ask questions.
I use quizlet.com to help intergrate techonolgy with our vocabulary words.
Please make sure that you come to class every day with your journals, paper, pens, and folder.
You must also have a red folder and your red notebook for all of your notes, handouts and homework.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Thank you!
I have parent conferences on Thursdays and Fridays, by appointment fron 9:45 to 10 or afterschool.
Email is always the fastest way to get a quick response. [email protected]
I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
