Course Descriptions and Syllabus


Advanced Orchestra:

Advanced orchestra

is a course and performance ensemble designed to provide the student with opportunities to develop, learn and perform stringed instruments on an advanced level. This is accomplished through class rehearsal, sectional practice, individual assignments, and orchestra performance.

It will be offered to students previously enrolled in Jr. High orchestra class or by teacher audition.

This course may be repeated for credit.


Course Goals & Objectives:

1.        Gain knowledge and understanding of assigned string instrument


2.        Develop technical skills that will aid  in effectively performing orchestral literature
 
3.        Develop stage presence and other musical skills that will aid in future study


** students will additional study  theory, ear training, and sight-reading.



Pre-requisites:  Audition and teacher recommendation
Credit:  1
Grade Level:   9, 10, 11, 12

Intermediate Orchestra:


Intermediate orchestra is a course and performance ensemble designed to provide the student with opportunities to develop, learn and perform stringed instruments at the intermediate level. This is accomplished through class rehearsal, sectional practice, individual assignments, and orchestra performance.

It will be offered to students previously enrolled in Elementary orchestra class or by teacher audition.

This course may be repeated for credit.

Beginning Orchestra:


Beginning Orchestra is a course and performance ensemble designed to provide the student with opportunities to develop, learn and perform stringed instruments at the beginning level. This is accomplished through class rehearsal, ifundamental intstrument technique, sectional practice, individual assignments, and orchestra performance.

It will be offered to students currently enrolled in 6th Grade class or by teacher audition.

This course may be repeated for credit.
