The Kindergarten Day
Arrival and Dismissal: School starts at 8:05 a.m. All students who are eating breakfast in the morning must go directly to the cafeteria. If the student is not eating breakfast he or she must go directly to the classroom and sit along the wall by the classroom until the bell rings. I will meet and great each student at the classroom door in the morning.
The children will be dismissed at 3:05 p.m. I will escort bus riders to the bus loading zone to make sure every child gets on his or her bus safely. Car riders will go to front of the building to wait for their ride. Your child will only be dismissed to the people you designate on the emergency card.
Lunch: The children will eat their lunches in the cafeteria. Your child may bring a healthy lunch from home. No sodas are allowed.
Snack: Please send a snack daily for your child. No soda and candy allowed. Snack time is in the afternoon.
Rest Time: Kindergarten classes have a 45-minute rest time each day. Please send a mat and beach towel for your child to place on the mat. Towels will be sent home several times throught out the year to be washed.
Home-School Connection
Daily Folders: Children will bring home folders home each day with completed work and parent information. Please check these folders daily. Read, complete, and return appropriate papers in this folder.
Homework: Homework will be sent home in a designated folder on Mondays. The work should be completed throughout the week and must be returned daily to be check. I except all students to complete homework assignments. Please plan to spend 15-20 minutes each night doing homework with your child. In order to complete the homework, your child will need these materials at home: glue, scissors, pencils, crayons, books, magazine, manucript tablet, and construction paper.
DAILY PRACTICE: Review letters, sight words, color words, numbers and number words daily. Practice counting from 1-100,; 2s, 5s, and 10s.
Birthdays: Children may celebrate their birthdays in school. Please let me know ahead of time if you plan to celebrate your child's birthday at school. Parties will take place in the afternoon during snack time. (2:30p.m.)
Can You Lend a Helping Hand? Volunteers are very imporant to the school. If you can volunteer please let me know. There are many tasks for volunteers in and out of the classroom.
