A little about me....This is my 15th year of teaching, and 2nd year at Holden!! I previously taught 10 years at Maurepas High and 3 years at Donaldsonville High. I am a 1997 E.A. graduate, a 2001 Millsaps graduate with a BBA, and a 2004 Southeastern graduate with a Masters in Education.
I currently live in Colyell with my husband and our 11 year old son, Jacob! He is now in 5th grade at Holden...and is figuring out how hard he has to work in school. I am foremost a mommy at home!! Also, I LOVE LSU football and baseball! Geaux Tigers!
I will have the Algebra I Honors class this year. I find learning and understanding Algebra I to be a very important component for their overall success throughout high school and into their college careers. I will use the Springboard textbooks throughout the year. It is a consumable workbook your child will have with them at all times.
Algebra II Honors will also be using Springboard and we will delve deeper into Algebra concepts as we prepare our students for College courses. Our goal for the year is to prepare students to be ready for Advanced Math Dual Enrollment courses.
Advanced Math will be taught simultaneously with Southeastern's 161/162 courses. Students in this course who have their ACT composite of 19 and ACT Math score of 19 will be eligible to dually enrolled for the year. This allows students to obtain a total of 6 college credits during the school year. Advanced math is the culminating class in the traditional high school curriculum. Students should be leaving this course fully prepared for the next level of classes at a secondary institution.
I am looking forward to a productive year! I am very happy to be a member of the Holden family!
