Welcome to 5th grade and an exciting new school year. I am thrilled to be teaching your children!
Fifth grade is a time of blossoming independence and responsibility. As parents you can support this growth in two major areas:
1. Morning Routine: School begins at 8:15am. Please be sure your child arrives to school on time. When student come in they will be responsible for unpacking their things, copying their homework in their agenda's every morning, and begin morning work. Agendas will go home every day and should be used when completing their homework.
2. Homework: Your child will receive homework Monday thru Friday. Your child must read every night, practice math facts, study spelling words, and complete other assignments that enhance the learning taking place in the classroom. Please check your child's agenda daily, but allow him or her to take responsibilty for doing the work.
**Students are expected to complete and submit all homework by the due date.
Grades will be based on formal and informal assessments, which may include observations, quizzes, tests, and projects. In 2nd grade, students will receive letter grades= A (90-100), B (80-89), C (70-79), D (60-69), E (59- below).
Please make sure your child is aware if you are sending a note. I will respond to emails at my earliest convenience. For any changes in how your child is getting home, please send in a note or an email.
Your support makes all the difference, and I am grateful. I look forward to building a successful partnership with you over the school year!
