Welcome Letter To My Students:

 

Hello, My name is Jennifer Chauvin and I will be your instructor for Principles of Business and or Accounting for the Fall 2026 school year.  I am a certified business teacher with a Bachelors degree in Business Education.  I come to you with 26 years of teaching experience and certifications in Microsoft Word, Quick Books, Customer Service, Regional Micro-Enterprise and State Micro-enterprise.  I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with you as we begin this new journey.

Expectations for my students:

 

  1. Treat others with dignity and respect.  Use appropriate language both in and out of the classroom, refraining from profanity and vulgarity.
  2. Limit themselves to appropriate physical contact with others.
  3. Respect the rights and property of others and behave in a trustworthy, honest manner.
  4. Refrain from behavior which may hinder the achievement or safety of themselves or others.
  5. Adhere to the dress code and appearance expectations
  6.  Follow the directions of all faculty and staff members.
  7. Go to classes on time, prepared to learn, and having completed assigned work.
  8. Not consume food or drink (other than bottled water) in the classroom buildings or classrooms, unless given permission by a faculty member
  9.  Not use or possess tobacco or nicotine products (including e-cigarettes/ "vaping" equipment), drugs, or alcohol on school campus.
  10. Phones may not be used during school hours (including during restroom breaks, lunch, or study periods), except with express permission from a faculty member. If a student needs to make a phone call, there is a phone located in the office for student use.

This is the shortened version of classroom policies and procedures, students will be given full policies and procedure on first day of class. Students are to keep policies and procedures in their Class Folder to refer to them if in doubt.

Homework Policy:

 

 

 

Homework is an important part of each student's educational program. It provides a means of teaching necessary skills of independent study and learning outside the classroom. It helps to promote good study habits and encourages students to share classroom experiences with parents.

Other reasons for homework:

 

  • To increase learning.
  • To establish self-discipline and independent study skills.
  • To encourage parent awareness of student learning.
  • To make up work due to an absence.
  • To complete work started in class.
  • To expand and/or enrich regular class work.

 


For Students

It is important to develop good study habits at school and at home.

 

  • Be sure you understand the assignment and ask your teacher if you need help understanding the assignment.
  • Set aside a regular time to do homework.
  • Study in a quiet place.
  • Complete your work and hand it in when it is due.

Course Description Accounting I:

 

 

 

 

 

This course is designed to provide students with complete cycle coverage of three types of business—Proprietorship, Partnership, and Corporation. Students will progress from the simple to complex business organization. Emphasis will be placed on real life transactions, which provide financial information that will be useful to the management of a business. Significance will be placed on critical thinking activities, Cengage software skills, cooperative learning activities, communication skills, and business ethics. Essential accounting competencies will be developed whereby students can make ethical decisions, achieve employment, and/or be prepared to further their knowledge in an accounting position.
