There are numerous opportunities available for Middle and High School Students to increase their involvement in and understanding of civic life in a democratic society.  As these types of opportunities are made available to us, they will be posted here.  Some are open to all interested students, others are application-based.  Click on the links below to learn more about these opportunities.

 

 

 - United States Youth Senate Program

COVID UPDATE 11/02/2020

This contest has been reactivated as of Nov. 1, 2020.  Visit the New Jersey Department of Education website for updates.  Interested students should email jraphaels@bernardsboe.com with questions. 

 

Completed applications, with all requirements EXCEPT for the Principal's Statement of Assurance, must be received by Mrs. Raphaels (via email, or in person to room 613A) by November 16, 2020.  

 

If multiple students submit applications, a selection committee will be formed to choose the RHS candidate for the program.  

 

 

 - YMCA Youth in Government Program

 

In addition, many local organizations such as the local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion sponsor scholarships and essay contests related to civic participation and involvement.  See Naviance for more information about these contests.
