Welcome Fifth Grader,

Hi. I’m Mrs. Mastroianni your fifth grade teacher. I can’t wait to meet you and start a new school year. I hope that you are all set to come back to the classroom for the exciting lessons and topics that will be taught in fifth grade.

I had a great summer. My family and I spent time camping. It was very exciting to go kayaking and hiking. Another thing we did this summer was to go to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My daughter, Ariana, had her dance Nationals there. It was very exciting and the competition was fierce! My son, Jason, was not that thrilled!

My family also spent a week at the Jersey, Shore. This is our eleventh year staying at Diamond Beach (Wildwood Crest). The kids loved the beach. I got to relax a little when I wasn’t being dragged out to go paddle boarding! This is a new activity my family loves to do. My daughter wants to spend the whole day out on the water.

Some of you remember me walking the hallways last year with our Seeing Eye Puppy, Virgo. She is still with us and we are awaiting the phone call from the Morristown Seeing Eye for her to go for her formal training. My family will be so sad when she goes back. Virgo enjoyed her summer trips with us and I can’t wait to show you her vacation pictures.

Well, that’s all about me for now. I have more to tell you, but that can wait until September. I’m sure that you have great stories to tell about yourself. So here’s your first homework assignment…yes, even before school starts! Please write me a letter about yourself. It can include what you did this summer, your favorite books, or even foods you hate, whatever you would like to tell me about yourself. Bring in your letter for the first day of school, not to Open House. This will help me get to know you better.

Continue to have a great summer and I look forward to meeting you at Open House on Wednesday, September 5th. The classroom is on Integrity Lane- Room 200. I will be there between 2 and 3 p.m. And of course, I can’t wait for the first day of school to begin on Thursday, September 6th. School starts promptly at 8:45, so make sure you are in your seats with a smile before the bell rings! Also, please bring a healthy snack with you since it is a full day of school.
