Keep Reading! - Summer Reading Alert Pt. 2
Fans of one of the LCS's favorite authors and friends, Dan Gutman is currently reading a My Weird School story everyday at 2 pm - just go to his link on the left. In addtion, Dan's books make great summer reading - weather it be the Flashback Four, My Weird School, the 'Baseball Card' series, 'Million Dollar' series, or any of his other great books - there are many, many to choose from. Mr. Mullarkey loves the Baseball Card series, especially Shoeless Joe And Me which tells the story of Shoeless Joe Jackson - one of the greatest baseball players of all-time - who was kicked out of baseball for life for being a part of a scheme to purposely lose the World Series!!? - although he did nothing wrong! - Want to learn more? Read the book! - and check out the Shoeless Joe Museum in Greenville, South Carolina (see the link on the left).
Keep Reading! - Summer Reading Alert!
Have you read the One And Only Ivan -? by Katherine Applegate - Did you know that there is now a sequel: The One And Only Bob - I will be looking forward to reading it how about you? Check out the link on the left!
SO ... You read the Harry Potter series and you have gone through all of the Rick Riordon books. What's next? - if you like the fantasy genre - Please feel free to e-mail me! I have several suggestions for you. I get the question all of the time. Here is one book that I would include in my recommendations. It was written in 1930 and was an instant classic. It is a PRELUDE to one of the great fantasy series of all time: The Lord of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The Hobbit sets the stage for the entire series and it is also a terrific book to read aloud.
- How did J.K. Rowling get her ideas about the library at Hogwarts? - The design/look of the library in the Harry Potter films is based on the BODLEIAN LIBRARIES in Oxford, England. Check out the link on the left to take a quick visual tour of these amazing libraries that date back to the Middle Ages. If you are a fan of Harry Potter, you will quickly recognize the similarities between the Bodleian Libraries and Hogwarts! Take a look!
- Check out Kid Lit. TV for some great books read aloud by some of our favorite authors. In addition, there are book trailers, crafts, and Kid-lit-radio as well. If you like sports - check out Game Changers read by Lesa Cline-Ransome. This is a new book that is coming to the LCS Library!
Please consider volunteering in the library in 2020-21. You can come in weekly or bi-weekly. I'm flexible! The job will take an hour of your time and greatly assist both students and staff.Volunteer help is needed more than ever due to district staffing cuts. The volunteer job involves checking books in and shelving books in precise spots on the shelf based on call numbers.

Students may visit the library to check out books, return books, browse the collection, or work on a class project. All Liberty Corner Students visit the library as a class period every two weeks. They have computers on the alternating week. Even though they have a fixed library class, they can return books and check out books during all library hours.
