I am looking forward to a wonderful year with you as you become a critical reader, strong writer, confident speaker, and active listener!
Course materials suggested for the 2017-2018 school year:
- One Language Arts binder and fill it with plenty of lined paper (size of the binder is up to you)
- At least one divider to separate the writing paper from class handouts
"If I went back to college again, I'd concentrate on two areas:
learning to write and to speak before an audience.
Nothing in life is more important
than the ability to communicate effectively."
-- (former President) Gerald R. Ford
What is 8th Grade Language Arts?
Eighth grade language arts is a unique language arts class that focuses on the various methods of communicating. Throughout the year students will study speech, drama, journalism, and poetry, while emphasizing critical reading, strong writing, speaking, viewing, listening, and critical thinking. Many of the tools and skills you learn and practice in language arts will be used throughout your other courses at Annin and as you further your education.
