Welcome to the 2018-2019

School Year!

"I don't assign daily homework,

but your son/daughter has homework

daily in my class!!!"

TIME MATTERS!

Why should we study history?  I get this question all of the time.

The short answer is: learning about the past helps us prepare for the future!

The long answer is:

There are many reasons to study history. For example, history provides a good background for careers in law, journalism, teaching, engineering and politics. Since most people will change careers many times in the course of their life, it is desirable to have as wide an educational experience as practical to prepare for future possibilities. Another reason for studying history is that it provides a framework for understanding the other humanities, such as the fine arts, literature, philosophy and religion, as well as the other social sciences (psychology, economics and sociology). History also helps to develop active and intelligent citizens who can distinguish between the important and the inconsequential, fact and conjecture, evidence and assertion, and make informed judgments in personal and public life. Finally, the study of history is a humbling experience, for the historical record is resplendent with tales of grandeur, ignorance, deceit, arrogance and brutality.

All Classes - If you miss school on the day of a test for any reason (but especially sports related), you must take the test on the day you return to school.

You may contact me at school (225) 695-6111 or by Email at [email protected]

My planning period is between 2:00 and 2:35.  I encourage all parents to contact me with any concerns about your children. The best way to reach me is by email, so please email me if you have any questions; I will try to get back with you within one school day (sometimes issues arise that prevent this).
