Physical Education Class 2024-2025 - P.S. #5 School
Welcome to another school year at P.S. #5 School. Physical Education Class is scheduled 1 time a week for all K-6th grade students. Each child has their own schedule and he or she should be aware of which day to report to the Gym and be prepared for Physical Education.
Please have your child wear appropriate attire each day of the week so that he or she will be able to participate in Physical Education. Clothes should be comfortable i.e. Shorts, Sweatpants, or Windbreakers, T-Shirts, etc. Proper footwear includes tennis-type/sneaker shoes, and with a flat bottom. Elevated shoes or shoes with heels are not safe for running activities. Sandals that have no heel-strap are not allowed in Gym Class.
If a student comes unprepared for Gym class, is Disrespectful, or Uncooperative his or her grade will be effected and the parent will be notified. Student Effort, Participation, Sportsmanship, and Skill work will be evaluated. Pre/Post testing will take place to evaluate student achievement. Please keep me informed of medical circumstances that impede your child’s regular PE participation. Students who have to miss Physical Education because of a medical reason need to have a brief note from a parent or guardian. If your child is to be out of Physical Education for an extended amount of time, then a Doctor's note is needed.

Physical Education Grading Policy

(10 points) Ten points will be deducted each time a student attends class unprepared i.e. Without Sneakers!!!
Students must wear athletic shorts(depending on the time of the year) and/or sweatpants, and/or windbreaker pants, sneakers, and their uniform shirt.
If a student is unprepared four times (4), during the marking period, this will result in a poor grade for the marking period grade.
(5 points) Five points will be deducted each time a student is disrespectful (disrupting class, preventing the teacher from teaching the class and preventing students from learning during class, using expletives in class), and five points will be deducted each time a student refuses to participate in the class activities e.g. Not performing the warm-up/calisthenics, and not participating in the learning and activity tasks.
All Medical Excuses Must Be Issued From a Doctor, NOT The Student’s Parents!!!!!!
