Educational/Behavioral Skills
Class Description:
This is a class categorized as a resource room model for special education students based upon their individual needs. Students will receive one to one assistance in areas of academic need and help with gaining appropriate social skills and advocacy skills for the regular school environment.

You are responsible for the grade you earn! Your performance will be evaluated on an individual basis rather than how you compare to other class members. Essentially, you need to set realistic goals to challenge yourself, follow class requirements and demonstrate growth to do well.
You are encouraged to keep track of your own progress throughout the quarter, semester, and year. Our focus is on quality rather than quantity, with the goal of continuous improvement over the course of the year.
To earn an “A” in this course, you will: COMPLETE ALL DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
Exhibit exemplary behavior. Focus areas include: punctuality, homework completion, study time for quizzes and tests-at least 30 minutes of concentrated study time each day.
- Display exemplary preparation of class material daily, remain current in all course reading and writing.
- Demonstrate sincere communication. This includes polite non-confrontational conversation that is thoughtful and goal oriented.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills through daily class participation. Active questioning and inquiry is a must.
- Reflect on goals and progress throughout the year, undertaking new challenges continuously.
To earn a “B” you will: COMPLETE ALL DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
- Exhibit courteous behavior. Focus areas include: punctuality, homework completion, study time for quizzes and test-at least 25 minutes of concentrated study time each day.
- Display sophisticated preparation of class material daily, remaining current in all course reading and writing.
- Demonstrate effective communication. This includes polite, non-confrontational conversation that does not include swearing or harassment.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills through daily class participation, active questioning and inquiry are a must.
- Reflect on goals and progress throughout the course, noting where new challenges should be undertaken.
To earn a “C” you will: COMPLETE MOST OF THEIR DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
Exhibit appropriate behavior. Focus areas include: punctuality, homework completion, study time for quizzes and test-at least 20 minutes of concentrated study time each day.
- Display sufficient preparation of class materials daily.
- Demonstrate adequate communication. This includes polite, non-confrontational language.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills through daily class participation. Active questioning and inquiry is a must.
- Reflect on goals and progress throughout the year.
To earn a “D” you will: COMPLETE MOST OF THEIR DAILY ASSIGNMENTS
Exhibit adequate behavior. Focus areas include: punctuality, attempt to complete homework, and attempt to study for quizzes and tests-at least 15 minutes of study time each day.
- Display minimal preparation of class material daily.
- Demonstrate a pattern of speech that needs improvement.
- Demonstrate an attempt to problem solve utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate a willingness to discuss goals and progress.
