Welcome to Mrs. Amber's page!

Dear Parents,

My name is Amber Purvis. This is my 25th year to teach at Albany Upper Elementary. I have taught several years of third grade, but most of my teaching experience has been with fourth grade students. My undergraduate degree and master’s degree came from Southeastern Louisiana University in elementary education. My master’s study was in the area of curriculum and instruction with a concentration as a reading specialist.  I have also earned a combined plus 30 graduate hours from Southeastern and Louisiana Tech.

Fourth-graders are my favorite students to work with and reading, writing, and social studies are my favorite subjects to teach. I am very excited about having your child in my class this year. I will be teaching him/her reading, English, and spelling (now called ELA block) for my homeroom and Ms. Kelli’s homeroom. I teach my homeroom social studies.

I hope that this website will be a useful guide to you and your child. Teachers and students are most successful when a loving, consistent parent is actively involved in the day to day business of school. Remember, you are your child’s first teacher!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Amber Purvis
