Welcome Back To School! I am so excited to have your child in my class this year! First Grade is a very rewarding year when students are excited and ready to learn! It is a very big transition from Kindergarten but with your help, I know it will be a very successful year. The following are several important things you need to know for the beginning of the year:
-Please talk to your child about what to expect before they return to school. Most students are not sure what to expect and get very nervous.
-Please send all school supplies labeled with your child's name when you attend open house. If you are unable to attend open house, please send supplies on the first day of school. (Please write your child's name on their scissors and glue sticks also, not just on the package)
-Please fill out all information packets during open house and return to me before you leave. I like to have these before the first day of school because we have alot going on during our first day.
-Please let me know how your child will get home the first day of school and then let me know if there are any changes. Most students can not tell us what bus they ride so we need to have this organized before the first day. If students usually ride a bus but will be picked up by a parent on a certain day, you must send me a note to let me know. I can not send any student to parent pick up without a note if they usually ride the bus.
-I check student folders every morning. This is one way we can communicate. Folders will be labeled as "Keep At Home" and "Return To School". All work we complete in class will be sent home in the "Keep At Home" side. Homework and any notes/reminders will be put on the "Return To School" side. If you need to send me a note, you can put it in your child's folder on "Return To School" side. Please check your child's folder every day and review any work we completed in class.
-I will put a bus tag on each students booksack. This tag will include their name, address, phone number, and bus number or parent pick up. Please keep this tag on your child's booksack.
-For our afternoon recess, students can bring a snack to eat. We recommend healthy snacks and juice or water. Students are not allowed to bring any kind of soft drinks and no thermos bottles.
