Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome Back! I am so excited to have your child in my class this year! We are going to have a fabulous time as we are learning each day in Math & Science!  I would like to share some valuable information in order for you to be prepared and your child be successful this year in 5th grade.

Students will report to class for 7:40 and begin their Bell Ringer work that is aligned to Module 1 on Place Value. This will serve as a review and guided practice daily. Next, students will transition into their Math Class. For the first couple of weeks, students will be reviewing 4th grade skills their Module 1 Mathbooks. Each Monday, unless a holiday or unforeseen circumstance, students will bring home a weekly homework chart with specifics assignments to be completed. In such a case, the weekly homework chart will be sent home the next day. I sent home a MAth & Science Newsletter letting you know what to expect for each Module. Homework or home practice is needed in order for your child to practice what they are learning in the class and to be for the upcoming quizzes reflecting that skill. I will be tutoring on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7:20 - 7:40 during the week. I will also have some times available during recess from 11:45 - 12:00. Students who would like extra help just need to let me know and sign up for tutoring.

Students will be completing Zearn Lessons daily to assist in learning the specific Math Skills. In Science, we will be working in Module 1 and focusing on Matter.Students have their digital Science Textbooks and Science Logbooks to help them learn daily and prepare for their quizzes and test. PhD Science Curriculm is based on a story line that centers aournd 3 different concepts that reflect the 5th grade standards. Students will take a quiz after each concept. This will be noted on their weekly homework chart. Students will apply the skills learned by reading charts, analyzing data, reading different resources and  answering question/tasks based on their understand of the content. Review the monthly newsletter for all the latest information with things happening here at school. Please make sure your child is completing their homework. This is their time to show you what they can do or perhaps if they need a helping hand.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any issues or concerns. I tell my students from day 1, we are a TEAM and that team consists of them, parents/guardians, and me. I am a firm believer that together we will SUCCEED! We are going to have an AWESOME year! I am looking forward to working with all of my sweet, wonderful students and parents/guardians.

P.S. Students have been doing an awesome job learning their new procedures and sharing their favorite things.
