Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Bayou Chicot Elementary School. My name is Shannon Ortego, and I have been teaching for twenty-one years now. ELA and social studies are the subjects that I am assigned to teach this year. I'm looking forward to another great school year and a chance to learn and grow together. Week of April 14, 2025:
Reading/ELA: We will continue reading and studying Shutting Out the Sky, and students will be introduced to the concept of immigration and what factors motivated immigrants to travel to America. We will also continue reading Coming to America. Students will define words in context , use images to determine an author's point of view and consider how the experiences of immigrants were different. LEAP preparation will continue.
Social Studies: We will continue studying the geographic features of Europe and the Italian Peninsula, including the Alps, the Mediterranean Sea, the Tiber River, Rome, and the islands of Sardinia and Sicily.We will also continue learning about the Renaissance and Reformation. LEAP preparation will continue.
