Each week grades Pre-K through 6 classes have music class. Each week we train our ears to recognize pitch movement with our voices, xylophones, or recorders. Ear training enables us to figure out melodies and harmony.  We play a game called Which Pitch. The students use note finder manipulatives to learn the notes of the grand staff and show their answers.

The next part of class trains the students to become better note readers. This involves students learning how to read rhythms. The game is called Gotcha Rhythm. Students repeat the rhythm I clap and step, with the rhythm on the board.

The most important part of music class focuses on listening to songs and singing them. Warming up our voices and blending them to sing in unison and harmony all while students become better listeners and readers. This is the part of class when the students learn about instruments, composers, listen to significant pieces of music from different periods in time and different cultures, as well as perform for each other.
Spend time playing an instrument you enjoy and do this with friends to get better faster.
Sing songs that you write; compose.
Listen to music from different cultures around the world.
Find something new or different  in your music library  that you enjoy and share it with your friends.
