2025-2026

Welcome to Kindergarten!  I can't wait to meet everyone and begin our adventure in learning.  Your child will have a home school folder that will go home each week.  On Tuesdays, your child will have a Curriculum Focus that lets you know about the skills we will be working on that week.  Letter writing and sound practice pages and sight words will be sent home for you to help your child practice matering these skills each week.  Occastionally math practice pages will be sent home, but mostly math pages are done in class.  You are welcome to look over the math skill pages for each day and ask you child about things that they learned in class.  Always be on the look out for notes from school telling about school events.

Birthdays:  On your child's birthday, you are welcome to send a sealed treat such as store bought cupcakes, hostess cakes, popscicles, ice cream sandwhiches, etc.. to share with the class.  Summer birthdays will be celebrated in May.

Snacks: Your child is provided a snack at school each day.  On Fridays, students may bring canteen money or a snack from home.

Testing/ Skill checks:  All students will attend school on the first day of school.  During the following 4 days students will have begining of year assessments that allow teachers the opportunity to best help your child with gaining necessary during the year.  All students will then begin attending school each day.   By week two or three, students will have a set of sight words and letters/sounds that they will be working on in class.  Each week these skills will be assessed and then sent home in order to determine what is most needed for the following weeks lessons.  These skill checks also give parents an idea of how their child is progressing in Kindergarten skills.  Most weeks students will have a phonics skill check and only an occasional math skill check.   I can't wait to get to know your child!   jkl;kj
