Dear Parents/Guardians/Students,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!  Thank you for all the sweet treats/gifts! It was truly appreciated and so thoughtful. I truly enjoy teaching this group of 7th graders.

As we start the second semester of the school year, keep in mind we have only 9 weeks until the LDOE opens the portal April 1 to begin LEAP testing and it ends May 15. We also have 2 full 9 weeks lefts of the school year.  If you child falls ill, please let us know so that we can gather their materials and someone can pick them up at school. Also, assignments are posted daily in the google classroom should you have a question or if your child needs to make up work.  This keeps the students from falling too far behind.  It is so important that the students attend school, complete makeup work, and work to the best of their ability.

Also, many of the students were out of pencils and paper just before the break. Please check and make sure they have necessary supplies.

As a reminder, it is extremely important that students review assignments in their planner nightly.  We are helping to shape young adults.  By doing so, this will require the students to take on more responsibility.

Moving forward here are some important policies and procedures:

  • Please understand that students planners are extremely important.  It is a snap shot of what they are expected to complete nightly and dates of tests.  Students will also have homework that is grade periodically.  However, they are often given time at school to start their homework and know that this homework is short.  I do not believe in hours of lengthy homework.  But, I do believe students need an opportunity to work independently on assignments.  Please know I have every child's best interest at heart.  I want them to be successful this year!!!
  • Students will receive calendars, fliers, and other important information.  Please check with your child nightly for any important information that may be sent home or check their planner.
  • If your child misses school, please have them check their google classroom for daily assignments or call a friend.
  • You can reach me during my planning which is 10-11a.m Tuesday-Friday.  I can be reached by calling the school or emailing me at [email protected]
  • Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Again, I look forward to a great year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Jessica Reed
