Dear Parents,

Earlier this week, our first-graders had the opportunity to showcase how amazing they are during our first annual "Incredible Kid Day".  Students performed two songs for their parents, followed by time to share letters about what makes them so special. We'd like to thank Mrs. Moran, Ms. Kurilew, and the rest of the first-grade team for all of their hard work in organizing this wonderful event.

Our fifth graders also had their time to shine during the drama club's production of 101 Dalmatians, Kids. It was clear that the students worked very hard and their efforts were evident throughout their wonderful performances.  We'd like to thank the parents for their dedication to the drama club as well as the students who helped with set design and costumes.  We'd especially like to thank our Cedar Hill staff members that made this amazing play a reality: Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Perdek, Mrs. Flaherty, Ms. Kurilew, Mr. Shaw, and Mrs. Farrell from William Annin.

April is also Autism Awareness month and we have celebrated in a number of ways.  Today, students and staff wore blue to "light it up blue". All third grade students participated in our annual ribbon tying ceremony with red, yellow, and blue ribbons being displayed on the large lattice in the front of the school over the month of April.  All students in second- to fifth-grade watched a special video titled, "Fireflies, The Jubilee Project" which shows how to be a friend to a child with Autism. The video reminds us that we each have beauty and can connect with others in unique ways. We are also recognizing Autism Awareness Month by continuing our school-wide acceptance chain that can be found in the hallway by the main office.  Last week, all students brought home a blank puzzle piece template, which they decorated to reflect what makes them unique. During this morning's assembly, we highlighted Autism Awareness, and discussed and practiced the social skill of apologizing.

VERY IMPORTANT  - Notice of Absences during Week of April 16 -
With our being in school on April 17, 18, 19, and 20, I realize there are families with planned vacations who will be away. I am asking that families notify your teacher, Mrs. Lynn, and the main office (Mrs. Rope and Ms. Rue) in writing
by Wednesday, April 11 if your child(ren) will be absent on any or all of the four days: April 17, 18, 19, 20.
Again, please, send a written note.
