Gym Rules (St. Martin Parish Code of Conduct Aligned) 

  • Follow directions quickly. Listen to the teacher and follow instructions the first time. 
  • Respond immediately to signals like whistle, claps, or “freeze."
  • Show respect to EVERYONE. Use kind words and actions toward others. 
  • Keep hands, feet, and equipment to yourself. 
  • Show good sportsmanship—win or lose.
  • Be safe and self-controlled. Walk unless you are told to run. Stay in your assigned area. 
  • Use equipment the right way at all times.
  • Take care of our gym. Return all equipment when done. No gum, food, or drinks. Treat our space with pride!
  • There should be no writing on the walls or equipment.
  • Always try your best. Participate in every activity. Stay positive and include others. 
  • Encourage your classmates!

 

 Consequences


Verbal Warning-A reminder of the expectation and a chance to fix the behavior.
Time-Out-Temporary removal from activity with a short reflection or cool-down.
Loss of Privilege-May sit out for a game or for the rest of the class.
Parent Contact-Phone call or note home to inform about repeated or serious behavior.
Office Referral-Fighting, refusing to follow adult directions, or dangerous actions. (Or any serious or unsafe behavior.) 

 

Daily P.E. Routine & Management Expectations

1. Enter the Gym Calmly and Quietly

  • Walk in single file line — no running or horseplaying.
  • Go straight to the designated area for your class.
  • Keep voices at Level 0 or Level 1 (silent or whisper).

2. Place Booksacks in the Designated Area

  • Immediately place your booksack in your class’s assigned spot along the wall.
  • Water bottles go in your designated hydration zone.
  • Keep your hands to yourself—no touching other people or their things.

3. Move to your Stretch Lines

  • Go directly to your assigned stretch lines.
  • Sit quietly or begin warm-up stretches if instructed.
  • Wait for the “Start of Class” signal.

4. Listen to the Daily Game Plan

  • Teacher will go over:
  • The activity/game/skill for the day
  • The focus or objective (e.g., teamwork, dribbling, fitness goal)
  • Rules, safety expectations, and sportsmanship reminders.

5. Participate Fully and Stay in Bounds

  • Give your best effort.
  • Stay in your assigned area unless told otherwise.
  • Follow directions the first time — no equipment until instructed.

6. End-of-Class Expectations

  • Freeze when you hear the signal (whistle or music off.)
  • Return all equipment properly.
  • Line up or return to the stretch area silently with respect for others.
  • Recap: “What did we do today?” “What did we learn or improve on?”

7. Dismissal

  • Wait for your teacher’s signal to grab your booksack.
  • Exit the gym in line, quietly and respectfully with all belongings!
