School Policies

Please know I will enforce all school policies; no exceptions will be made. You are responsible for knowing all school policies. Please read the Memorial High School Handbook provided to you and also located online on the main website.

Dress Code

Dress code will be enforced. According to the Memorial High School Handbook, "Schools uniforms must be worn ; when the student is in the building or on school grounds...any student in violation of our policy will face consequences."

With that said, please be in uniform (i.e school shirt, black or khaki pants, and ID around your neck. NO JEANS!)

Tardy/Cuts

According to the Memorial High School Handbook, "If a student is late to class, the Class Teacher may assign detention in the auditorium on the same day at 2:30 pm" (58). Unless the student provides a note from a teacher or administrator as to why they are late, the student will be given a detention if late for homeroom or class.

Cutting is not tolerated in Memorial High School. The cutting policy is as follows:

1st Cut = detention + parent notification

2nd Cut = detention + parent conference

3rd Cut = Saturday detention + parent conference

4th Cut = Extended Saturday detention + parent conference

5th Cut = Out-of-school Suspenion + parent conference + loss of credit/30-day probation

6th Cut = Dropped from class

Grading Policy

50% - Summative

This category includes all tests, independent writing assignments, and presentations/debates. You will always be informed that an assignment is summative in advance.

30% - Formative

This category includes all quizzes, shorter/informal writing assignments, and in-class activities/assignments.

20% - Preparation; Participation

You are expected to come to class everyday, adequately prepared for the lesson. This includes having your Chromebook, notebook, folder, and other class supplies as well as classwork and homework assignments. Furthermore, you are expected to participate in our class activities and discussions, providing thoughtful insights/comments and engaging in active collaboration with your peers and teacher.

Not completing any of the assignments WILL alter the desired grade. All grades count toward the final average.
