Hello all!
My name is Kevin Munroe and I am the Instrumental Music Teacher and Band Director for PS #4 and PS #5.
Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 have the opportunity to learn a band instrument at their respective school. Students will be pulled from an approved class to recieve a group lesson each week on an available instrument. The full band will rehearse after school once a week in preparation for their concerts.
Students perform 2 concerts a year. A winter concert and spring concert.
A limited number of school Instruments are available free of charge. These instruments generally are in good condition so students are responsible for their assigned instrument and if lost or seriously damaged they will be held responsible for replacement/ repair costs.
Lastly, recent research supports that music has a positive impact on a multitude of academic areas for students of all ages.
The band program also offers opportunities for your child to:
• form new friendships
• build self-confidence and
• develop their own musical skills.
