Welcome to Team 7-3! I'm so excited to be your ELA teacher!
A few reminders as we begin the school year. Always come to class with a pencil and a charged Chromebook. You will need some type of notebook (spiral/composition/lined-book of your choosing) to use as a writing journal, a pocket folder for ELA papers, and a glue stick. The journal will stay in my classroom, so please have your name on the front of the notebook. I have all types of paper, markers, colored pencils, scissors, crayons, and a pencil sharpener for classroom use. Feel free to bring your own supplies if you prefer.
I believe in independent reading, so you will have many opportunities to explore books of your choosing. Silent reading time will be allotted occasionally in class. I cannot wait to explore all types of literature together in class and as your read your IRBs (Independent Reading Books).
Any unfinished classwork is homework, unless directed otherwise. I post all assignments on Google Classroom. There is also a weekly agenda posted every Monday on Google Classroom that discusses assignments for the upcoming week. All grades can be found on OnCourse. Most grades will not be posted in Google Classroom unless there is a rubric attached to the assignment (some essays and other written work).
If submitting late classwork, please email me to let me know. My rules for unsubmitted work:
- any work past 3 days late will start to have points deducted from the total grade and
- any work that is past 2 weeks of its due date will no longer be allowed to be submitted for a grade and you will see a "0" in OnCourse.
