Hello and Welcome Back!!
My name is Sarah Verbos, and I am the elementary school counselor at Saint Leo the Great School. This is my fourth year here at Saint Leo and I am very excited to have another wonderful year with the faculty, staff, students, and with all of you. A little bit about me, I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation and Human Services in 2012, followed by a Master of Education in School Counseling from Monmouth University.
My role as the school counselor is to ensure our students are developing skills to cope with everyday tasks in and outside of school. These skills could be social, emotional, behavioral, and/or academics. My past/current education and experience has guided me to incorporate what I have learned into this field.
This year, I will be working alongside Mrs. Moran, our middle school counselor, to assist in the facilitating of our new social emotional program. This program is to help students understand the character traits and apply them in every day situations.
Throughout this year, I will be interacting with the students by conducting classroom lessons, working with students individually, and in small groups. I am happy to announce Lunch Bunches are back again. Lunch Bunches is a program for students who need extra help in a certain area of development. These developments could be socially, emotionally, or behaviorally. It is an opportunity for the students to interact and learn new skills through games, activities, and stories. A letter will be sent to all parents during this school year, regarding if you would like for your child to join. If you have any further questions about this program, please contact me.
I am committed to encouraging and empowering our students to help them succeed in all their endeavors. I look forward to working with and getting to know you and the Saint Leo the Great community. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or at my extension 226.
