Dear Parents,

It’s an honor and privilege to be your child’s Special Education Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year.  This year your child will continue to make progression towards reading and writing using the Core Knowledge Language Arts program. In this program your child will be provided with foundational reading skills, such as phonics and word recognition, fluency and language skills. Math will be taught from Eureka. The Eureka system builds students' knowledge logically and thoroughly to help them achieve deep understanding. As it also grants your child the ability to not only know the problem solving process, it also helps obtain a deep understanding of why the process works.

Though you may be concerned about the skills your child missed last year due to COVID-19 early school closure. It is my job as your child’s teacher to re-enforce those skills he/she has missed during the first nine weeks. Therefore, it is high-priority that we work jointly to make sure your child practice learned skills at home.

For the students that are virtually attending we will work individually based through your Chromebook. We will make a schedule to meet via Zoom, although there maybe changes made as the year progress. Please be accommodating and patient as we strive to arrange the best instructions in helping our virtual students remain successful. Remember this is new to us ALL.

All students who are attending school traditionally will be required to wear a mask. If the student doesn’t have a mask, one shall be provided upon arrival to campus. The Safety of our community is our main priority. Therefore, while on campus the students will continue to practice social distancing, temperature checks and handwashing/sanitizing will be done daily.

“Stronger Together” is the theme for the parish. So as your child’s teacher I’m elated to say we are going to grow stronger while working together to make certain that he/she will have a successful school year.
