                                                                                                      Meet the teacher!!!

Hi. My name is Mr. Darren Sibley! I am extremely excited to start my second year here at Nesom. I’m thrilled to be your teacher and look forward to a year of learning and educational growth. I can’t wait to learn all about you, but first I’ll tell you a little about me.

I've lived in Tangipahoa parish all my life where I graduated from Oak Forest Academy High School in 2003. Upon graduation from high school I attended Southeastern Louisiana University. While at SLU I began my coaching career at OFA where I coached football and track. I knew I wanted that to be my profession, so I entered the Education program at SLU. Upon Graduation from SLU in the Fall of 2009, I became a full time teacher and coach at OFA in the spring of 2009. While at OFA I have taught 7-9th grade History, coached middle school football and track, and varsity football and track. This year I will be coaching football at St. Thomas Aquainas and track and basketball at Nesom. I currently live in Independence with my wife, 3 daughters (KenLee 4 years old, Aria 3 years old, and Italia 1 year old) and 3 dogs.

In my years of teaching I have discovered that most students do not enjoy history. But, it's my goal to try to change that by bringing some enthusiasm and fun into the classroom. We will be using chrome books for certain assignments, we will be taking powerpoint notes on historical information, and also doing projects and watching short videos. My goal is to address the many different learning styles that make up a class. I understand certain students learn better in different ways and I try to address that.

Throughout the year we may need parents to assist in some way. I encourage and welcome any assistance parents may want to give. I can be emailed at Darren[email protected] or my cell number is 985-517-0604.
