     Meet the School Counselor

Hello, my name is Ms. Prawetz and I am the school counselor here at Burch Charter School of Excellence. This is my second full year at Burch and I am very excited to be back! I am so looking forward to continuing to meet with and build relationships with each of the scholars and their families.

 

You may be wondering, what does a school counselor do? 

 

      Students, I am here to help you with:

Working out any problem

Working well with others

Feeling good about yourself

Adjusting to a new school/school year

Learning how to make decisions

Managing your feelings (stress, worry, anger, etc.)

Dealing with peer pressure and bullying

Listening and helping you navigate situations and more

 

Parents, I am available to help you with:

Exploring ways to help your child succeed

Improving parent child communications

Referrals for community resources

Understanding the developmental changes of childhood and more

 

Services I provide as a School Counselor:

Group Counseling

Classroom Lessons

Brief-Solution Focused Counseling

Parent Consultations

Community Resource Referrals and more 

 

I am available to students at school Monday-Friday in Room 304. Please let your teacher know that you would like to speak with me and I will set up a time to do so. January 9th: Battle of the Classes Begins (In School Only)

January 11th: Half Day of School & Virtual School Lottery 6PM

January 16th: No School-Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

January 20th: Student of the Month Celebration

January 26th: 5th Grade Cap and Gown Distribution AND Math & Science Night

January 28th: Saturday Academy Begins
