Welcome to Ms. Gleason's school counseling webpage!
Dear Bear Tavern Families,
While this upcoming year will be different from most, I aim to give your child the space, skills, and support they need in order for them to feel safe and successful. As I transition into the role as the new counselor beginning in September for the 2020-2021 school year, I hope to provide you with a new line of communication and a greater insight into my background and goals.
I am beyond excited to become involved within the Hopewell Valley Community and serve as a connection for your family to various resources. Prior to my role as a school counselor, I was a fifth grade reading and writing teacher for three years. I have a dual certification in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education (K-8), as well as a Minor in Disability Studies from the University of Delaware in 2015. While teaching, I saw my strength set extending beyond the classroom to support students with their social and emotional needs. This past year, I obtained my Master of the Arts in Counseling from The College of New Jersey in addition to becoming a Nationally Certified Counselor.
During the school year, I will meet with students for a variety of reasons. Providing additional support will occur either individually, in group settings or within the classroom. Please know that I am here for your child and want them to shine their brightest! I am not only a mental health resource and advocate for your family, but hope to be someone whom you feel comfortable sharing your concerns and questions with. As my time at Bear Tavern begins during an unprecedented time, I look forward to developing a positive relationship with you and your family.
Over the school year, should you have any questions or would like to connect about your child, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at 609-737-4000 x5703.
