I love helping students become more confident readers and writers so they can move on to become lifelong learners. When I was in middle school (many, many, many years ago...) I was not a fan of reading or school in general. I had not read one novel and only read what I absolutely had to so I could get by. I struggled with reading unfamiliar words and had a hard time concentrating for long periods of time. I would have never imagined back then that I would become a teacher, much less a literacy specialist.
I read all the time now... for work and for fun. I love reading. I love learning.
If you are one of the students who work with me in class, we will be working to build your reading stamina, comprehension, vocabulary exposure, and to support you in your core classes so you too can become a lover of learning.
