Welcome to Ms. Blake's School Counseling Website!
Hello Hamburg Community, I am the school counselor for Hamburg School. I am a state credentialed school counselor and also a Licensed Asssociate Counselor. I am serving as the Anti-Bullying Specialist, 504 Coordinator and RTI member at Hamburg School. I am an Army veteran and graduated with a Post-Masters in School Counseling from Caldwell University. I have two children who are in 4th and 6th grade and we reside in Denville, NJ. I have the ultimate joy of working here with wonderful students through providing classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I also collaborate with school staff and parents in order to best meet the needs of students.
Classroom Guidance Lessons
I visit each classroom multiple times throughout the month and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons. Lessons typically last a period (40 Minutes) and cover toics such as anti-bullying and upstander lessons, school readiness skills, understanding feelings of self and others, problem solving skills, conflict resolution, friendship skills, self-esteem and career awareness among others.
Small Group Counseling
A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are just interested in spending some time with other students during a structured time. Groups can have anywhere from 4 to 8 members and meet once a week during lunch/recess for several weeks.
Individual counseling is available to students on an as needed basis. I offer crisis counseling and teacher/parent referred counseling. If a student wishes to see me on a regular basis for individual counseling a permission slip is sent home for parental permission.
