A note about independent reading:
During the English 2 CP course this year, students will have the opportunity to select books for independent reading. Students are allowed to choose books that pique their interest, as long as they have not read it before and it is level appropriate. During the course of the year, students will be asked to choose books according to certain guidelines and other times have open choice.
Throughout the year, students are welcome to use the resources of the KHS Library Media Center as well as books in our classroom. Students are also encouraged to use the Public Library or bring in their own books. Please be aware that due to the nature of freedom that the students have in choosing their own independent reading books, some books may contain mature content.
I invite parents to engage in conversations with your child about their books. Building reading partnerships with your child can help them deepen their analysis all while fostering a unique common ground for authentic conversations.
