The students will conduct a water density lab comparing the density of different liquids as is relates to the ocean and the layers within the ocean. ( 

 

Wednesday Jan 8-  Learning Target

Students will analyze a picture of the ocean to develop pertinent questions.  The groups will create at least 3-5 questions about the ocean. Label the question as open or closed. Teachers will review the questions and utilize them to lead/guide instruction. 

 

Tuesday Jan 7- Learning Target

The students will review classroom procedures so that everyone knows how the classroom routine. The students will create a bingo board for rules and procedures. 

How to enter class, How to be prepared for class, at the beginning of class, during class, at the end of class, being respectful and responsible what those looks like. What to do if a student is absent, late, sick or has emergeny. How to turn in assignments. What to do if a student feels anxious, upset etc....

EQ: How is our solar system positioned in the Milky Way Galaxy and the universe? (S6E1b)

 

Monday -  The students will define key vocabulary words using the frayer model diagram. Key words: Star, Milky Way, Nuclear Fusion, Galaxy, and Planet. Those that did not finish this assignment in class will need to complete it for homework. 

 

Tuesday- The students take guided notes on the position of the solar system in the Milky Way. position_in_solar_system_notes.

 

Wednesday-  Students will complete a hands on activity called Universe Match Up. - The students should work individually to match up the objects in the universe and place them in order from largest to smallest.

 

Thursday- Students will research 3 different galaxies Spiral, Elliptical, and Irregular. Students will sketch and decribe the characteristics of each. 

 

FridayThe students will complete the common assessment for science and identify terrestrial planets according to size, surface, atmospehric, ability to support life in compasision to earth.
