My name is Amanda Raymond. Most people call me Boo. I teach Science at Sharon. I am originally from Houston, Texas. My family has a ranch in West Texas and I frequently use "ranch experiences" in my classroom lessons.
I taught third grade in Dallas, Texas, years ago. I, then, went to law school at the University of Houston. After law school, I worked for the Justice Department in Houston and later worked designing wills and trusts, performing mediations, and representing children who were experiencing difficult circumstances.
My husband and I moved to Charlotte about 16 years ago and raised our two daughters here. Both of my daughters went to Sharon Elementary and loved it! My older daughter is currently pursuing a career in acting and producing. She is hoping to become a broadway actress. (Fingers crossed!) My younger daughter is currently attending The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a major in English and Illustration.
I teach Science Lab at Sharon and love it! My goal is to spark an interest in science in every student and make them curious about the world around them. I try to make every class a hands on experience and a fun, engaging and educational moment.
