My name is Jamie Amadeo and I am a Speech-Language Therapist

at Woodrow Wilson Community School

One main objective of the speech-language department is to enhance the functional communication skills of our students. We do this by targeting verbal and nonverbal communication skills, receptive and expressive language development, and social interactions with peers and staff. When deemed appropriate, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices may be utilized on an individual basis to improve a student’s communicative abilities.

Speech-language therapy goals and session activities are individualized to meet each student’s needs. Information within sessions will be provided through a variety of sensory modalities, including auditory, visual, and tactile stimuli. Our goal is to provide the resources and support for students to carryover strategies into their natural environment, including in the classroom, at home, and during activities of daily living.

Homework and carryover activities are provided to children and their families on an individual basis if it is determined by both parent and therapist that additional practice is necessary outside of school.  These tasks will be tailored to each student's communication/language/speech abilities and the targets currently being worked on.
