Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction, Principal of the New York Avenue School
I am very excited to begin another year as Principal of the New York Avenue School for the 2019-2020 school year. I joined the Somers Point School District in 2014 having previously taught special education in Galloway Township and administrative positions in the Folsom, Hammonton, and Pinelands Regional School Districts. Throughout my time as an educator, I’ve had the pleasure of working with students of varying levels and needs. This ranges from special needs students to students at the honors level in the middle school setting. All of my students have a special place in my heart and continue to motivate me to create the best learning experience for all students in the Somers Point School District.
In 2009, I moved into an administrative role. As Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction, I wear many different hats; however, the basis of my job is to work in collaboration with the staff to make sure we’re doing what’s best for our students. This includes providing staff with professional learning, working with teachers to create and develop our curriculum, and researching best practices to implement in the classroom. I hold these responsibilities as well as the role of Principal.
In my personal life, I am a wife and a mother to two sons. I am a lifelong learner and have a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University. My other degree is a Bachelors of Arts in Music. Working in the Somers Point School District has been an amazing experience, and I look forward to another year with our fantastic staff, students, parents, and community.
