Thursday, May 28 (Day 47)

Shape Recognition: Find as many squares as you can and sort them by color or size. 

Physical Challenge: Have a parade! March around the house playing instruments (you can use pots as drums).

Math Challenge: Number Hunt: Walk around your house and have your child find and name as many numbers as they can. They can also search in a magazine or book for numbers.

Writing Challenge What's your favorite recipe, ask a grown up to help you write it and share it with your teacher.

Fine Motor: Squeeze a lemon or orange and see how much juice you can get from it. Then make lemonade/orange juice!

 

Friday, May 29 (Day 48)

Physical Challenge: Play red light, green light.

Math Challenge: Give your child several different objects and ask them to sort the items. They could sort them by: size, shape, color, or type. (Ex. All the soft things, all the blue things, etc.)

Writing Challenge Put on your favorite song and draw a picture. Write a title for your picture.

Fine Motor/ Art: Draw a monster on the window with a dry erase marker. Then, use a spray bottle to spray the monster with water and melt it.

 

Monday, June 1 (Day 49)

Literacy Challenge: Read one of your favorite books. Copy 10-15 words that start with the first letter of your name.

Physical Challenge: Set up an obstacle course. Go over stuffed animals, go around pots, etc.

Math Challenge: Help your child count the forks and spoons in your

kitchen. Ask them: Which one has more? Which one has less?

Writing Challenge Write a letter to a family member who lives out of state and mail it to them

Fine Motor/ Art: Roll tissue paper into balls and glue each ball down on a page.

 

Tuesday, June 2 (Day 50)

Shape Recognition: See how many shapes you eat at breakfast, lunch and dinner! Share your tallies with your teacher.

Physical Challenge: Paper plate skating - grab a couple paper plates, step on them, and skate around the house.

Math Challenge: Walk around the house with your child and help them count how many windows are in your house.

Writing Challenge Draw a picture of your favorite memory from this school year.

Fine Motor/ Art: Cut pictures out a magazine. Then glue them on paper to make a collage.

 

Wednesday, June 3 (Day 51)

Color Recognition: Collect 5 items for each color of the rainbow. Sort the items by color and then by size.

Physical Challenge: Target Practice: Set up a target practice for preschoolers to throw something at (whether it’s mud or bean bags)!

Math Challenge: Gather 5 pennies. Have your child close their eyes. Put a few of the pennies under a cup. See if your child can figure out how many pennies

are hiding. Repeat.

Writing Challenge: Design a playground. Label what you draw! 

Fine Motor: Place lots of pennies face down on the table. Try to turn over one penny at a time by picking it up without

sliding it to the edge of the table.

 

Thursday, June 4 (Day 52)

Shape Recognition: Go on a nature walk and see how many shapes you can find in nature

Physical Challenge: A Flashlight Scavenger Hunt: Turn off the lights and hide some objects around the house for preschoolers to go find with a flashlight. 

Math Challenge: Number jump - write numbers 1-10 on pieces of paper and spread them out. Call out a number and have your child hop onto that number.

Writing Challenge If you could go anywhere where would you go? Draw a picture.

Fine Motor/ Art: Paint a picture using q tips as paintbrushes.

 

Friday, June 5 (Day 53)

Draw a picture of what your house would look like if you were one of the three little pigs. What materials would you use?

Physical Challenge: Dance like this! Put on some music – but give them instructions to dance a particular way. They can dance slow, fast, in a circle, silly, etc.

Math Challenge: See if your child can use 2 household items to make

an ABB pattern (ex. fork, spoon, spoon, fork spoon, spoon).

Fine Motor: Put together a 20-25 piece puzzle.

 

Monday, June 8 (Day 54)

Shape Recognition: Using only circles, squares, and triangles can you draw a picture of a house, car, or a garden

Physical Challenge: The floor is lava! Try moving around the room without touching the floor.

Math Challenge: Cut out strips of paper in different lengths. Ask your child to put them in order from shortest to longest.

Writing Challenge, Which study was your favorite this year? Trees, clothing, or insects? Draw a picture of something you learned from one of the studies.

Fine Motor: Make snakes and eggs by rolling Play Dough into long snakes and egg like balls.

 

Tuesday, June 9 (Day 54)

Shape Recognition: Draw as many shapes as you can. What letter does each start with?

Physical Challenge: Tape Road - tape a road throughout the house or room and let them drive drive drive!

Math Challenge: Give your child some pennies and dimes. Have them line them up side by side to make a picture graph. Have them count how many are in each group. Ask them: Which group has more?

Writing Challenge: Which do you like better, a lake or the beach? Draw a picture

Fine Motor: Use a clothespin to pick up and transfer cotton balls from one bowl to another.

 

Wednesday, June 10 (Day 55)

*Count as high as you can go!

Shape Recognition: Create an animal using different shapes. Like a turtle with a heart shell and head and oval legs.

Physical Challenge: Hop Skip & Jump: Set up paper plates around the house or outside and have them jump from one to the next. If you have different color plates, there’s lots of options!

Math Challenge: Help your child count to 30. Call out a number from 1-10 and have your child hold up that many fingers to represent that number.

Writing Challenge What is your favorite summer treat? Draw a picture and label what you made

Fine Motor/ Art: Use a toothpick to draw a design in some play doh.

 

Thursday, June 11 (Day 56)

*Count as high as you can go!

Shape Recognition: How many different color towels do you have?

Physical Challenge: Move like an animal! Crawl like a snake, fly like a bird, walk on all fours like a bear, hop like a frog, jump like a kangaroo, waddle like a penguin.

Math Challenge: Write numbers 1-10 on separate cards. Have your child randomly choose a card and count out that many items to go with that card.

Repeat until finished.

Writing Challenge: What would you make for dinner tonight? Draw a picture and make a list of what you need.

Fine Motor/ Art: Mix 1 part cornstarch with 1 part water to make liquid paint. Add food coloring to make different colors. Paint your sidewalk/driveway with the liquid chalk and a paintbrush.

 

Friday, June 12 (Day 57)

Shape Recognition: Using all the shapes you know can you make a picture of a person? 

Physical Challenge: Spy game - Tape up a ‘spider web’ in the hallway for them to crawl through. Stick pom poms or cotton balls to it for them to pick up along the way.

Math Challenge: Have your child draw circles with crayons to make an ABC pattern: (ex. pink, purple, purple, pink, purple, purple). See how many different color patterns they can make.

Writing Challenge Lay in the grass and look at the clouds. Draw a picture of what you saw. Label the clouds with a C.

Fine Motor/ Art: Make a Froot Loop necklace.

 

Monday, June 15 (Day 58)

*Count as high as you can go!

Shape Recognition: Make a shape book. Children make a book with 4 pieces of paper stapled together. They cut pictures from magazines and glue them to the pages. For example, a tire on the circle page, a door on the rectangle page, a slice of pizza on the triangle page.

Physical Challenge: Hang some objects for them to jump and grab (make it learning or just for fun)!

Math Challenge Ten Frames - Create a ten frame on the floor with tape (a large rectangle with 10 squares inside. Grab 10 of your favorite toys and a deck of cards (or just 1-10 written on paper). Flip a number and put that many toys in the ten frame.  EX. “Wow, I see you put out 6 toys. Is that more or less than 5? You’re right – it’s 5 and 1 more. How many squares are still open? OH! So 6 and 4 make 10!”

Fine Motor: Use a computer keyboard to type the letters of the alphabet in order.

 

Tuesday, June 16 (Day 59)

Shape Recognition: Draw the missing half . . . draw half of a shape (circle, square, circle, star, heart etc.) and have your child complete the other half. You could also get tricky and try animals or vehicles.

Physical Challenge: Jumping game - see how far you can jump!

Math Challenge: Make a pretend ruler if you do not have a real one. Have your child use it to measure items around the house. Show them how to read the numbers on the ruler.

Writing Challenge If you lived in the zoo . . . what would that be like and which animal would you choose to live with. Draw a picture and try to write a sentence about it.

Fine Motor/ Art: Pick up a craft pom pom with a clothespin. Dip it in paint and dab paint on a piece of paper using the pom pom

 

Wednesday, June 17 (Day 60)

*Count as high as you can go!

Shape Recognition: Build shapes with mini marshmallows and toothpicks. 

Physical Challenge: String scavenger hunt - String some string around the room, through chairs and set up treasures along the way to find! Have them follow it through, going in and out, under and over to see what they can find!

Writing Challenge Sight Word Stomp -- write some basic sight words (I, can, want, etc.) or you can use colors or number words outside on the driveway or sidewalk. You say the word and have your child stomp the word.

Fine Motor/ Art: Use a marker to connect dots on a piece of paper.

 

Thursday, June 18 (Day 61)

Shape Recognition: Go outside and lie in your yard . . . look and count how many shapes you see in the clouds.

Physical Challenge: A big maze - either use tape inside or sidewalk chalk outside and make a huge maze for the kids to drive or walk through!

Math Challenge: Get a can or box out of the pantry. Have your child find as many numbers on the can as they are able to. Help your child practice counting to 100.

Writing Challenge Draw a picture (with lots of detail and colors) of one place you can’t wait to go this summer!

Fine Motor: Crumple paper and throw it like a snowball. Then unroll it and smooth it back out.

 

Friday, June 19 (Day 62)

*Count as high as you can go!

Physical Challenge/Shape Recognition: Water balloon fight - fill a bucket of water balloons up. Draw shapes on the sidewalk/driveway with chalk. Have them kids aim for different shapes as they throw their water balloons.

Math Challenge: Give your child various numbers of squares of paper in several different colors (ex. 6 pink, 10 red, 3 orange). Have them line each color up in a column to create a bar graph.

Writing Challenge Draw a picture of an end of school year party . . . include all your friends and your teachers too.

Fine Motor: Go outside and use scissors to give the grass a haircut.
