Hi,
I am Mr. L. Steve Abram. As your new teacher, I would like to introduce myself to you, and to others re-introduce myself. I am a husband, father of four children, grandfather of nine grandchildren and one great-grandson, and a dedicated educator.
I am originally from Slidell, Louisiana. From there, my family moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan where my dad became the pastor of a local church. I graduated from Ypsilanti high in 1976 and attended EMU for three years before moving to NYC. I worked at The Reece School in New York City followed by Crenshaw High Magnet School in Los Angeles, California. While living in these cities, I balanced my teaching with my love of the theatre by acting, singing and touring with artists like Dr. Maya Angelou, Freddie Jackson, Whitney Houston, Roberta Flack, Ashford & Simpson, Mary J. Blige, Jodeci and The Pet Shop Boys of London, England to name a few. I also acted with artists like Marla Gibbs, Cassie Davis, Loretta Devine, Dorien Wilson, James Pickens Jr. and Angela Robinson Whitehurst of the Have and the Have Nots.
I enrolled and attended Eastern Michigan University but later graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2018. Currently, I am the Pastor of Christian Love Church in Slidell, Louisiana.
I am very excited about this school year and the new classes of African American Literature, as well as returning to Business English, Speech, and Technical Writing classes. As we all know, things are going to be different this year with the blended learning model. However, together we all can achieve our goals of learning. Therefore, I am looking forward to a very exciting and challenging school year. We are WARRIORS and we will win!
Be Respectful. Be Compassionate. Be Great.
