Welcome to the Special Services website. Kinnelon Special Services provides a continuum of programs, placements, and related services to meet the needs of children who are eligible to receive special education services. The Preschool Disabled Program is a half-day program for children between the ages of three and five who are experiencing developmental delays in motor skills, social-emotional behavior, cognitive abilities, and/or speech and language development. Due to necessary preparations for the 2020-2021 school year allowing for social distancing and assuring safety for our students and staff, we regret to share our 2020-2021 Preschool Inclusive Program is no longer accepting applications at this time.

There is also a broad range of special education programs in each school in Kinnelon for students in grades K-12. Programs include mainstreaming with supports, resource center instruction, and self-contained classes. The Self-Contained Program provides a structured learning environment in which instruction is individualized to meet the needs of the student. A variety of Resource Center options have been developed to include both support and replacement instruction. Resource Center teachers provide direct instruction in various content areas as well as assistance in developing organizational skills and learning strategies.
