Art is a wonderful way to exercise your brain, stretch those creativity muscles, relax, and spend quality time with yourself and others.
*Check out these additional online art resources:*
www.deepspacesparkle.com is a website designed for art teachers but it has lots of free art projects, all with instructions and many with videos.
Art for kids hub is a channel on youtube that posts simple and fun guided drawing videos. We have enjoyed a few of these in class and I encourage those students who enjoyed them to explore their many other offerings.
www.artprojectsforkids.com This is a website that offers many simple step-by-step drawing tutorials. Although some of the resources on this site are for sale, the how-to-draw offerings are free to use.
www.easypeasyartschool.com.au is offering six free lessons in response to school closures. Free lessons: Pacasso's Pet Fish, Simple Picasso Face, Picasso's Ukulele, Cactus Doodling, Tribal Pattern Mask, and The Art of Doodling. The "Art Knowledge for Kids" section is super for some art theory information.
Mo Willems's "Lunch Doodles" - author of The Pigeon....books recently invited students into his studio every weekday to join in on drawing fun and a glimpse into his creative process. Episodes are posted on youtube and can be found by searching "Lunch Doodles" in youtube's search bar.
www.art-is-fun.com has lots of lessons, both drawing and painting.
There are also numerous virtual museum tours that you can enjoy from home. These allow "visitors" to view priceless works of art and the beautiful places where they live, all from the comfort of home. Museums with free virtual tours include The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, The Louvre in Paris, and The Tate Gallery in London, among others. Enjoy the view!
REMINDER:
Artsonia.com is an online art gallery for students which allows artwork to be viewed remotely. This is a great way for friends and relatives to get to see your kids´ artwork when they aren´t able to see it in person. Artsonia also sells products like magnets and tote bags with your students´ creations printed beautifully on them. 20% of the money from purchases comes directly back to the art program here at Lafayette. Parent permission is required for work to be viewable publicly.
Gifted and Talented:
www.mensaforkids.org is a fun and challenging website to check out too, with several game choices available by clicking the "play" tab.
