Expectations and Policies

  1. Behavior: Students are expected to behave in an orderly and mature manner and follow all school and parish behavior and discipline policies published in the school and parish handbooks.
  2. Tardiness: Students are to be on time and in their assigned seat preparing for the day’s lesson when the tardy bell rings. Students will be assigned a KIR (Kept in Room) detention slip if tardy.
  3. NO CELL PHONE USE IN CLASS! Students are required to TURN OFF and PUT AWAY all cell phones and other electronic devices. School policy mandates that cell phones be kept out of sight and be powered down during school hours. My policy is: If I hear it, it’s mine for the duration of class time.
  4. Attendance: Students will fail the class if they have more than 12 unexcused absences; excused absences will require approved documentation and must be provided to the attendance clerk as soon as possible. Students are encouraged to make every effort to stay current on assignments since computer exercises can only be completed at school in the computer lab. Students must prearrange time to work in the lab after school or during CORE.
  5. Cheating: Each student will be issued a unique password and ID to ensure the security of each student’s files. Students may not share this information with anyone under any circumstances. If a student feels that someone is able to access their files, he should immediately notify the instructor so that new codes can be assigned. Any student caught cheating will be given a 0 and/or issued a detention referral.
  6. Computer and Internet Usage: Students must maintain standard default settings unless instructed otherwise. Each computer software program comes with default settings pre-assigned and changing these defaults will not be allowed. Students must remain on task and only access the menus and system functions needed to complete the lesson. Navigating away from approved programs and alteration of settings will result in disciplinary action. No outside storage devices (USBs and the like) can be used due to the risk of computer viruses. Internet usage is not permitted unless specifically instructed by the teacher.
  7. Workstation Care: Leave book bags and purses underneath your assigned computer station to avoid clutter and tripping hazards. Please leave your workstation clean and organized before you leave each day.

Makeup Work

It is my firm belief that classwork assignments can and should be completed ON TIME. Students are encouraged to stay current on assignments, and should arrange to make up any missed work as soon as possible; keep in mind that make-up work will only be issued at my discretion and will correspond with the school’s established absentee policy.
