Walker High School Pharmacy Technician Training Program Learning Objectives:

Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and daily activities of pharmacy practice.

Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations as they pertain to pharmacy technician responsibilities, including application of procedures of the Drug Enforcement Administration and state requirements for controlled substances; ethical responsibilities; and the role of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.

Demonstrate knowledge and skills in areas of science relevant to the pharmacy technician’s role, including anatomy and physiology and pharmacology.

Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills to meet the needs of diverse patient populations and function effectively as a member of the health care team.

Demonstrate critical thinking skills needed to prioritize, anticipate and analyze problems, and to evaluate and implement solutions within accepted guidelines and laws.
