Miss Erickson's 5th Grade English / Language Arts Class
Laurel Erickson is the 5th grade English/Language Arts teacher at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School. She graduated magna cum laude from Rowan University in May 2016 with degrees in Elementary Education and Liberal Studies: Humanities/Social Science with concentrations in English and History. She also holds two additional certifications in Special Education (P-12) and Middle School English/Language Arts (5-8).
This will be Miss Erickson's third year teaching, and her second year in Berlin Township School District. Before coming to West Berlin, she taught 4th grade in Marlton. While Miss Erickson enjoyed teaching all subjects in her previous position, she feels fortunate to now be teaching her two favorite subjects, Reading and Writing, all day long.
Teaching and working with children is a joy to Miss Erickson, and she looks forward to getting to know your child and to be working with him or her this year. Her goal as an educator is to spark curiosity in the minds of students and to help create lifelong lovers of reading and writing. She hopes to excite your child about the world of learning and to broaden his or her interests.
Laurel grew up locally in South Jersey and enjoys working part-time at her very first job in the bakery at Johnson's Corner Farm in Medford. She is the proud owner of two gray tabby cats named Olive and Margo. When Miss Erickson isn't teaching, she enjoys traveling, hiking, Geocaching, reading, exercising, and doing anything outdoors.
