Miss Erickson's 8th Grade English/Language Arts Class
Welcome to 8th grade English/Language Arts! It is with extreme enthusiasm that I introduce myself. My name is Miss Erickson. This will be my sixth year teaching and my fifth in Berlin Township School District. I anticipate an excellent year filled with many accomplishments. Our safe, comfortable classroom community will be grounded in mutual respect and inclusivity. Together, we will make great strides in supporting your child as he or she explores the exciting worlds of reading and writing.
I graduated with honors from Rowan University with two bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and Liberal Studies: Humanities/Social Science with concentrations in English and History. I also hold certifications in Special Education (P-12) and Middle School English/Language Arts (5-8). I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in School Administration at Rowan University.
Teaching and working with children is a joy to me. My mission as an educator is to spark curiosity in the minds of students and to foster a lifelong love of learning that extends beyond any one discipline. I lead with a growth mindset and encourage my students to do the same.
I grew up locally in South Jersey and enjoy working part-time at my very first job in the bakery at Johnson's Corner Farm in Medford. I am the proud cat mom of two gray tabbies named Olive and Margo. When I am not teaching, I love traveling, hiking, running, geocaching, reading, exercising, calligraphy, and doing anything outdoors. My most recent hiking endeavors include the Inca Trail in Peru, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and the Batona Trail in the New Jersey Pine Barrens!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year. It is important to have open communication between us and I would love to talk with you whenever you feel the need. I look forward to a successful year together!
