Miss Erickson's 5th Grade English/Language Arts Class
Welcome to 5th grade English/Language Arts! It is with extreme enthusiasm that I introduce myself. My name is Miss Erickson, and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year. Together, we will make great strides in supporting your child as he or she explores the exciting worlds of reading and writing.
I graduated with honors from Rowan University with degrees in Elementary Education (K-6) and Liberal Studies: Humanities/Social Science with concentrations in English and History. I also hold two additional certifications in Special Education (P-12) and Middle School English/Language Arts (5-8).
This is my third year teaching, and my second year in Berlin Township School District. Before coming to DDE, I taught 4th grade in Marlton. While I enjoyed teaching all subjects in my previous position, I feel fortunate to now be teaching my favorite subject all day long!
Teaching and working with children is a joy to me, and I look forward to getting to know your child and to be working with him or her this year. My mission as an educator is to spark curiosity in the minds of students and to foster a lifelong love of learning. Each day, I strive to bring humor, expertise, and a little bit of sunshine to the classroom. I lead with a growth mindset and encourage my students to do the same.
I grew up locally in South Jersey and enjoy working part-time at my very first job in the bakery at Johnson's Corner Farm in Medford. I am the proud owner of two gray tabby cats named Olive and Margo. When I am not teaching, I love traveling, hiking, Geocaching, reading, and doing anything outdoors. My most recent hiking endeavors include the Inca Trail in Peru, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and the famous Batona Trail of the New Jersey Pine Barrens!
