page contents

In addition to literary works read in class, students will read a total of two novels of assigned genres each nine weeks. The purpose of these reading requirements is not only to improve students' reading comprehension levels, but also to help individuals find their preferred reading style in order to enhance enjoyment of and appreciation for literature. Reading will be assessed through AR tests and teacher-generated projects. Students may contact me, as well as the school librarian, Mrs. Fuselier, for aid in choosing a novel of the appropriate genre.

A note to parents:

Throughout the year, students may choose to check-out books from my classroom library, which contains a wide variety of books ranging from upper elementary to young adult novels. While I am able to suggest novels for students in need and answer any questions asked, I, unfortunately, cannot regulate every book each student checks out. I recommend that you, as parents, communicate your expectations with your children to ensure they are reading novels of appropriate content and reading level.

Thanks,

 Kyndel Heffer
