Miss. Litkey's 2019/2020 Welcome Letter

Dear 4th Grade Student and Families,

Hello from room 212! My name is Miss Jenny Litkey and I’ll be your 4th grade teacher. I’m looking forward to a great year together!

This summer I traveled to the Dominican Republic. It was absolutely beautiful. I also traveled to Ortley Beach with my family. Relaxing at the beach is one of my favorite summer activities. I can’t wait to hear about your summer!

I think you are really going to enjoy 4th grade! We will be learning many new things. We will be reading different fiction and nonfiction texts along with writing personal narratives, persuasive writing pieces, poetry, historical fiction, fantasy and much more!  We will also be exploring Geometry, Fractions, Decimals and Measurement in Math. Our Science units will include Energy, Waves, Earth and the Structure and Function of plants and animals. In Social Studies we will be studying and celebrating New Jersey. Some topics include Lenape, Colonization, events leading up to the The Revolutionary War and much more.

In preparation for the new school year, please send in the following items on the first day of school:

  • 2 Elmer’s Glue Sticks

  • 2 Expo Dry Erase Markers

  • 1 Black Sharpie-Fine Tip

  • 1 Black Sharpie-Ultra Fine Tip

  • 3 Wide-Ruled Marble Composition Notebooks

  • 1 150 page pack wide ruled paper

  • 1 Pencil Case (please no pencil boxes!)

  • 1 Pack Colored Pencils

  • 3 packs of 12 sharpened Ticonderoga Pencils

  • 4 pocket folders in blue, red, green yellow

Don’t worry about labeling the items before coming to school. We will do that together as a class on the first day.

*Please note that some of these items will be collected and distributed throughout the year. They may not get back the exact supplies they brought to school.

I look forward to meeting you at the Open House on Wednesday, September 4th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Our first full day of school is Thursday, September 5th (dismissal at 3:15 p.m). We are going to have a great year together full of lots of learning and memories! Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Love,

Miss Litkey
