Hello and Welcome to the George J. Mitchell Music Education Website!

It is my pleasure and honor to teach General Music Education and 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Choir. It is my hope to continue implementing a comprehensive and complete music education which will ensure a life long relationship with music.

In the classroom we utilize traditional and contemporary music education techniques, which connects the past to the present. Students have been learning about pitched and unpitched instruments, rhythmic notation, various genres such as the Blues, Bebop, Ragtime, Swing, Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, Pop, Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk and Country.

Furthermore, students have a new world "Music Composer of the Month."

For instance:

Edvard Grieg (1843-1907)~ "In the Hall of Mountain Kings" & "Morning Theme"

Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741)~ "Spring Theme"

Frederic Chopin (1810-1849)~ "Fantasie-Impromptu," "Polonaise" & C# Minor (1830)

We also have thematic weekly songs which are played on xylophones, glockenspiels, bells, boomwackers and the piano.

Please feel free to contact me at any time. I would love to hear from you!

Best wishes and "Rock on!"
