The GRCS Choir is in full swing! We meet every Monday, except for school holidays (or closures), Teacher Institute Days, and Parent/Teacher Conferences from 4:00-5:00 pm.

Instrumental class is fantastic! We are learning and sharpening our piano and guitar skills every Tuesday from 4:00-5:00. We just completed learning the C, G7, and E minor chords through the music of Bob Marley, The Beatles, and other musical greats. These scholar musicians are doing a wonderful job!

In our GRCS Upper Academy Music Classes:

Our fantastic 5th graders are working on World Music Drumming. We have just completed our work on the song Harambee in 4 part rhythmic harmony. The scholars were FANTASTIC! We are moving on to more complex rhythms and drumming techniques for the new song Rock It!

Our surburb 6th graders have learned our new note F and applying it towards performing recorder duets and rounds.

Our sensational 7th graders are divided between guitar and piano. They have learned how to play the C, G7, and E minor chords and can strum to the songs Are You Sleeping, Coconut, Yellow Submarine, Hokey Pokey, Get Up, Stand Up, and Eleanor Rigby. In addition, we are now learning the notes on the 1st and 2nd strings/ EFG. We will soon be learning the songs Spanish Theme and Ode to Joy.

Our enthustatic 8th graders are also playing guitar and piano. We have begun work on the 4th string and are performing piano/guitar duets through the song Au Clair De La Lune (How Clear is the Moon).

We have been invited to perform a song or two on the November 29th School Board Meeting beginning at 5:30 at the Lower Academy.

This year, we will perform for our school and for the public this Winter and in the Spring. Information about upcoming programs and performances can be found on this website and in our monthly newsletter.

Also, I have included free music resources on this page. There are resources on music theory, composers, guitar, instruments of the orchestra, and much more.
